Taking a Break: Focusing on Family, Health, and Support

Life has a way of reminding us what matters most. After years of balancing responsibilities, meeting deadlines, supporting others, and pushing through busy seasons, I have decided it is time to take a step back and focus on the people and priorities closest to my heart.
This season is about family, health, healing, and support.
For so long, my life has centered around service — supporting students, Soldiers, colleagues, friends, and family members through challenges, transitions, celebrations, and difficult moments. I do not regret a single moment of it. Those experiences shaped who I am and strengthened my appreciation for resilience, compassion, and faith.
But sometimes, the strongest thing we can do is pause.
I am learning that taking a break is not quitting. It is not weakness. It is making room to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with the people and values that matter most. It is allowing myself the opportunity to be present for family, prioritize my health, and provide support where it is needed most.
Life changes. Priorities shift. Seasons evolve.
There are moments when careers, obligations, and routines must take a back seat so we can care for ourselves and those we love. Family needs us in different ways over time, and health — physically, emotionally, and spiritually — deserves attention before burnout forces us to slow down.
This chapter is one of intentional living.
It is about quiet mornings, meaningful conversations, time with loved ones, moments of reflection, and rediscovering peace in the middle of uncertainty. It is about choosing grace over pressure and understanding that rest has value too.
I have spent much of my life being strong for others. Now, I am learning the importance of allowing others to support me as well.
Support can look different for everyone:
A phone call from a friend
Time spent with family
Faith and prayer
Moments of stillness
Taking care of our bodies and minds
Giving ourselves permission to slow down
Sometimes we need to step away in order to come back stronger, healthier, and more grounded.
This is not the end of the journey — simply a pause to focus on what truly matters.
To those who have supported me, encouraged me, prayed for me, and stood beside me through difficult seasons: thank you. Your kindness, patience, and presence have meant more than words can express.
Right now, my focus is simple:Family. Health. Healing. Faith. Support. Peace.
And for this season, that is enough.
