Roots

Over the last couple of years, as I’ve helped care for my parents and intentionally focused on the people who bring positivity into my life, I’ve found myself drawn to trees… and their roots.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been reflecting on my own roots—what grounds me, what holds me steady. Or maybe it’s part of navigating life after losing my parents, trying to reconnect with where I come from while redefining what family means.

The truth is, I do have a family. An amazing husband, beautiful children, a precious glam-baby, and a wonderful dog. And beyond that, I’m blessed with incredible extended family and friends who have become family by choice.

The past few years were busy—filled with giving, supporting, and pouring into others, often putting my own needs aside. But now, I’m stepping into a new season. A season where I can care for myself while continuing to nurture the relationships that truly matter. The people who stood by me during some of the hardest moments of my life… they are part of my roots now.

We’re finding our place—our niche—and building a modern family rooted in love, connection, and intention. A family made up of blood, friendship, and choice.

Thursday is my day of thankfulness. I take time to reflect on my girls, my immediate family, and the extended circle that brings out the best in me—love.

I make it a point to meditate or spend time in devotion daily. Even when I can’t get outside into nature,

I stay grounded through my faith—through God and His word. That is my foundation.

Life, for me, is about kindness. Paying it forward. Encouraging others.

My roots may have been shaken, even tattered at times—but they are being restored. With love as my nourishment and positive relationships as my support, those roots are growing deeper. Stronger.

Steadier.

So when life throws its inevitable curves, I can stand firm.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not the challenges that define us—it’s how we respond. That’s where character lives. That’s where your true self is revealed.
