A Summer Pause

With summer here and the focus on fun in the sun, I am taking a little break from the busyness of life.

My focus right now is simple: breathing, reflecting, spending time with family, and appreciating the moments that matter most.

Winston's first book, Winston Tails I: Love at First Sight, is officially out in the world, and I can finally pause for a moment and focus on the next chapter of my life. Of course, Winston isn't interested in slowing down. His next book is already in draft form, and we have begun exploring literary agent opportunities.

I had to have a conversation with him.

We may be fabulous around here, but that Goldendoodle needs to start earning his keep! Treats, grooming appointments, baths, and haircuts don't pay for themselves. Momma is retired now, and

Winston's expenses are adding up. If he wants to maintain that fluffy lifestyle, he's going to have to help support his habit.

Retirement has not been what I expected.

Like many families, we have faced unexpected challenges. With our grandchild's illness and the support our children have needed, life has taken turns I never anticipated. Yet through it all, I have been inspired by their resilience.

I have watched my son embrace the role of primary caregiver for his child with strength and devotion.

I have watched my daughter-in-law continue pursuing and completing her degree despite tremendous challenges. Their determination, love, and commitment to family have been nothing short of inspiring.

I could not ask for a better family.

Even in difficult seasons, there are reasons to celebrate. There is joy in small victories, comfort in being together, and hope in knowing that brighter days are ahead.

This summer, I am choosing gratitude. I am grateful for family, for faith, for second chapters, and for the opportunity to create stories that celebrate love, resilience, and hope.

And, of course, I am grateful for Winston—even if he does have expensive taste in treats.
